Dr. Guerin’s love of “esoteric” programming languages started in college, at Transylvania University during the study of declarative programming languages during his Programming Languages course taught by Dr. Kenneth Moorman. His interests in state-of-the-art logical languages reached new heights in graduate school at The University of Kentucky under the tutelage of Drs. Miroslaw (Mirek) Truszczynski and Victor Marek, who played a significant role in the early development of Answer Set Programming Languages.
Dr. Guerin strongly believes that more systems should be built with Answer Set Programming as a backbone. As various computing industries grow more resource hungry, our group seeks to create an environment of higher efficiency and less destructive computing resources.
He wishes to bring his love of ASP, quantum programming, and other high-efficiency languages and frameworks to a broader audience, and make the world a little better for his kids and others in future generations. This includes the training of other instructors, as well as undergrads, in these remarkable areas.
